Welcome to DYSG Media™

Well...look at us. We got a website.

First and foremost, welcome.

Seriously.

Whether you've been rocking with Do You Speak Geek? for years, found us when we made our comeback this past June, or somehow stumbled onto this page while looking for an explanation of Earth-616 continuity—welcome to DYSG Media™.

And to everybody who showed love when Do You Speak Geek? returned: thank you.

Coming back after time away is always a little nerve-racking. It's like a wrestler's return pop—you think they're going to remember you, but until that music hits, you really don't know.

Thankfully, y'all remembered.

More importantly, you welcomed La and Aaron into the madness.

And trust me: madness is probably the correct word.

The three of us are still discovering exactly what this version of Do You Speak Geek? can become, and that's also what makes this part so much fun. Different perspectives. Different personalities. Different corners of geek culture. And occasionally three people looking at one another like the Avengers after somebody suggests a plan that absolutely nobody should agree to.

Somehow, it works.

So...What Exactly Is DYSG Media™?

That's a good question.

And the answer is still growing.

Right now, this is the new home of Do You Speak Geek?—our conversations about comics, gaming, anime, movies, television, professional wrestling and whatever else has the geek streets talking.

But I didn't build this website just to give the podcast somewhere pretty to live.

I wanted to build a home.

A place where DYSG can grow beyond a podcast into something bigger: a platform for conversation, creativity, nostalgia, storytelling and—eventually—opportunity.

And one of the first pieces of that expansion is the very thing you're reading.

DYSG: Decoded

Welcome to the written side of DYSG.

DYSG: Decoded is where we'll have a little more room to breathe. Opinions. Reviews. Interviews. Deep dives. Stories. Random observations. And whatever geek-related thought decides to set up shop in my brain at 3:17 in the morning when I should absolutely be asleep.

If Do You Speak Geek? is where we have the conversation, Decoded is where we can dig a little deeper.

Sometimes we'll examine what's happening right now. Sometimes we'll revisit something from years ago and ask whether our nostalgia has been telling us the truth. Sometimes we'll put the spotlight on creators and stories we think deserve more attention.

And sometimes...

I might just have something to say.

Those of you who know me already understand how dangerous that last one can be.

But We're Just Getting Started

Here's where things get interesting.

There are ideas sitting on the whiteboard right now that I'm dying to tell you about.

Some will take us backward to moments in geek culture that deserve to be remembered—and maybe reconsidered.

Some will look forward.

Some are about creating.

Some are about helping other people create.

Some involve stories I've spent years writing.

Some may eventually give you something pretty dope to wear.

And if everything comes together the way we're imagining it, you might even get to watch the three of us pick up controllers, go live and discover very quickly which member of Do You Speak Geek? should never, ever be trusted during a co-op mission.

I'm not naming names.

Yet.

Think of the website right now like the beginning of an MCU phase—except I'm not giving you the entire slate five years in advance just so you can ask me every six months what happened to Blade.

You'll know when it's time.

This Is Home

That's really what DYSG Media™ represents to me.

For years, Do You Speak Geek? has existed in pieces across the internet. A podcast here. A social media page there. An interview somewhere else. An idea scribbled into my notes app at an ungodly hour because apparently my brain doesn't believe in business hours.

Now those pieces finally have somewhere to come together.

DYSGMedia.com is home.

And like any new home, some rooms are finished. Some are still being furnished. And there are a couple of doors I'm keeping locked because I'm not ready for y'all to see what's behind them yet.

But you're here early.

And someday, when this place looks very different from the website you're looking at today, I hope you'll be able to say:

“Yeah. I remember when they first opened the doors.”

So bookmark the site. Come back often. Tell somebody who speaks geek.

There's a lot more coming.

And if comics, wrestling, anime and video games have taught us anything, it's this:

Never assume the first form is the final form!

Welcome to DYSG Media™.

We're just getting started.
